Jenna
Jenna is a Pennsylvania-based Tribal and Oriental Fusion Bellydance performer known for her graceful poise, mesmerizing spins, and sultry hipwork.
"Jenna's interpretation of music is engaging, heartfelt and joyful."
A lifelong dancer, Jenna began creating choreographies for herself and friends in her basement at age 10 and began formal dance study at age 12, studying ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballroom and swing. Her training in oriental dance began at age 21 when she began studying tribal fusion and cabaret with Fuschia FoXXX in Baltimore, Maryland while finishing art school.
Over the next 6 years, Jenna expanded her training in many different forms of oriental dance including American Tribal Style, Cabaret, Tribal Fusion, and Turkish and Egyptian Folkloric styles. Jenna regularly attends both local and national bellydance events and workshops from the top names in the form and has performed at local events, haflas, and at Tribal Fest in Sebastopol, CA.
In 2011, Jenna began a whirlwind journey to train under the most notable names in Tribal and Fusion Bellydance today. Beginning in early 2008, Jenna has trained under and regularly pursues training opportunities locally and in the San Francisco Bay Area with Zoe Jakes, Jill Parker, Zafira Dance Company, Kami Liddle, Asharah, the Suhaila Salimpour School and Fat Chance Bellydance. In 2011 she traveled to the Bay Area to continue her training in ATS at Fat Chance Bellydance Studio, in Traditional and Folkloric styles at the Suhaila Salimpour School, and in Tribal Fusion with Jill Parker, the "Mama of Tribal Fusion Bellydance." She is currently working toward her Level 1 Certification in the Jamila Salimpour Format.
Jenna's training has deeply influenced her love for pursuing the history and lineage of Tribal Bellydance and in early 2011, she created the "Tribal Legacy Project" which brings information, relevant discussion, and her own experiences of Tribal and Oriental dance to the dance community.
